Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Read the following Bible passage, then answer the short questions. Consider the practical suggestions at the end of the study.

Passage: Hebrews 4:15-16*

15. For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin.

16. Let us therefore draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.

Questions

1. How does Jesus react when you face sexual temptation (see verse 15 above)?

2. What makes Him different than you and me?

3. When tempted, do you feel the freedom to draw near to Jesus for mercy and grace?

Practical help

What an encouraging and life-infusing truth: When we’re tempted to sin — even to use the filth of porn — Jesus is near to help us resist and stand strong in Him. Verse 15 tells us that Jesus commiserates with us and is touched with feelings of compassion and sympathy because He was tempted in all things just as we are. There is one important difference: Jesus never yielded to sin. Because He was tempted He can now identify with our weakness; because He never sinned, that’s why He can help.

So next time you feel the struggle building and the temptations bombard you, remember that Jesus has compassion for you at that very moment and He stands ready to give you all that you need to resist in your time of need. Have confidence in Him and draw close for help!
