Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
Romans 13:13*
Let us behave decently, as
in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not in
sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension
and jealousy.
Questions
1. How open are you about
your struggles with pornography?
2. What behavior does this
passage commend?
Practical
help
Lightning caused the New
York City blackout of 1977. Human depravity caused the
looting that followed. While the NYPD primarily
policed crimes against persons, Gotham residents
robbed at will, typically preferring appliances to
food.
How we act when the threat of
punishment is lifted shows who we really are. That's
why our stand against pornography matters most when no
one can monitor our successes or failures. Paul calls
this behaving decently, "as in the daytime." We might
simply call it integrity.
Put another way, we should
behave as if God watches over us at every moment. Not
only because it shows character, but also because he
actually does.
