strong in the face of sexual temptation. Introduction:
Continuing in our series of studies from
James, we come to a glimpse of the vision that God has
for us, His people. Passage:
James
1:18* Questions Notice the "birthing" imagery. James says that God
"brought us forth." The physician "brings forth" a
baby from the mother's womb, and we welcome a new
person into the world. When James says that God
"brought us forth" he is referring to the time when
God acted the part of the good Physician and ushered
us into His Kingdom. This is the moment when we were
saved! Why don't you take a few lines and express your
thanksgiving to God for His wonderful work in giving
you new life because of your faith in Jesus! (If you
are unsure about your salvation and want to know how
to enter a relationship with God, click on If
you're not a Christian or are unsure on this
site.) Now, look at the last part of the verse. The reason
God "brought us forth" is so that we might be "the
first fruits among His creatures." What image does
that term "first fruits" bring to your mind? Thought for the
day

Title: God's Vision for You
-------------
Date: 09/06/1998
In the exercise of His will He brought us
forth by the word of truth, so that we might be, as it
were, the first fruits among His creatures.
Here, James mentions the work of God
the work of God in the past and the work that God
wants to accomplish in His people.
God saved you by a wonderful means. It
is the cross of Jesus and His resurrection from the
dead that brought your forgiveness of sin and a new
eternal destiny. God saved you for a wonderful
purpose. He wants your life and mine to bear fruit.
His intention is that our words, thoughts and actions
would reflect His holiness, purity and love. Next time

salvation and God's wonderful plan for your life.
