Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: 1 John 2:1-2*

1. My dear children, I write this to you so that you will not sin. But if anybody does sin, we have one who speaks to the Father in our defense — Jesus Christ, the Righteous One.

2. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for the sins of the whole world.

Questions

1. According to verse 1, what's one reason God inspired the Apostle John to write this letter?

2. If you're guilty of sin (welcome to the human race), who would you want to come to your defense?

Practical help

Do you find that you're often asking yourself the same couple of questions: 1) What am I doing here? and 2) Why did I do that?

When it comes to viewing Web porn, the answers to "what" and "why" may only be deepening a pit of guilt that you're sure you'll never climb out of.

Well, the Apostle John has some great news — you can be lifted out of that pit by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ! Not only that, Jesus will fill that pit of guilt with his guarantee that you'll never be guilty again! (How can that be? Click here.)

John's not only showing you how to get out of that pit, he's offering you some help so you can avoid digging another one. He says in verse 1 above: "I write this to you that you will not sin."

John's letter, like all of Scripture, is written to us by an awesome God who desires that we know him and his love for us. The more you get to know him, the less you'll be asking "what" and "why."
