Keywords: "remember" "trapped" "wicked"
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Psalm 119:61-62*

61. The cords of the wicked have encircled me, But I have not forgotten Thy law.

62. At midnight I shall rise to give thanks to Thee Because of Thy righteous ordinances.

Questions

1. The psalmist says that he is encircled (trapped) by the cords of the wicked. Have you ever felt "trapped" by your obsessive desire to view porn — even though it is not something that you want in your life (in that sense, porn is your enemy!)?

2. Despite the entrapment by the enemy, what does the psalmist say he remembers?

3. Night is often a difficult time to resist temptation to the Internet's lures. What does the psalmist do at midnight to "fix" and "focus" on righteous ordinances?

Practical help

Here is good, practical help. Porn is an enemy to your soul. It tries to encircle you and, like a boa constrictor, squeeze the life out of you. There is a way to escape its clutches, though. When temptation is at its strongest — even in the middle of the night! — thanksgiving to God looses the grip of any besetting sin.
