Porns
Lure Today's
Three-minute Bible Study
Passage:
Proverbs 7:15-17* 15. So I came out to meet
you; I looked for you and have found you! 16. I have covered my bed
with colored linens from Egypt. 17. I have perfumed my
bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon. Questions 2. How are these sensory
appeals similar to the ways web porn seeks and finds
you? 3. What do you generally
encounter first on the web: verbal enticements to porn
links or the actual porn itself? 4. What are two steps you
can take to resist verbal enticements to web
porn? Practical
help 1. Be vigilant. Don't
be caught off guard when porn links show up during
nonporn web searches. Some porn sites uses
nonsexual terms to describe their content, enough
to infiltrate unrelated search "hit lists." Also,
some terms, though nonsexual, appeal to sexual
desires via innuendo, as in the prostitute's
enticing comments above. 2. Depend on God's
grace. On discovering sexual innuendo in a link,
ask God to help you give it the slip. With God's grace, many people
like you have resisted links with sexual
innuendo and thus avoided web porn itself. These
people are cheering you on to do likewise.
You can do it!

to do this study: Read the following Bible passage, then
answer the short questions. Consider the practical
suggestions at the end of the study.
1. To which senses
did the woman appeal as she sought and found the "you"
(which earlier verses have described as a foolish
youth)?

enticements by recognizing and avoiding them when they
first appear. Consider these steps:
