Passage: Judges 16:17* So he (Samson) told her (Delilah) all that was in his heart and said to her, "A razor has never come on my head, for I have been a Nazirite to God from my mother’s womb. If I am shaved, then my strength will leave me and I shall become weak and be like any other man." Questions 1. What, according to Samson, was the secret to his strength?   2. FYI: A "Nazirite" was a person who had taken a vow (or, in Samson’s case, had been placed under this vow by God) (a). to not touch anything unclean; (b). to not drink alcohol; (c). to not cut his hair. The Nazirite was especially "set apart" to God’s purposes.   Practical help By the time Delilah cut his hair, Samson had already touched the dead carcass of a lion and scraped honey out of it (unclean) and drunk alcohol. But, as long as he maintained at least partial faithfulness to his Nazirite vow, God continued to bless him with extraordinary strength. When he broke with the third and final requirement of his vow, allowing Delilah to shave his head, God took away Samson’s strength and he was defeated by the Philistines. That is Samson’s story. What about your story? You, as a Christian, have been "set apart" for God’s purposes just as surely as Samson had.
