Like most proverbs, this one communicates a crucial truth. (Unlike the false axiom, "God helps those who help themselves.")
When it comes to pornography, many of us feel such shame that we don't want to share our problem with others. Big mistake. All of us need a Jonathan who can help us carry our load — especially with a burden as heavy as an attraction to smut.
Find a Jonathan and talk to that person about your struggles with pornography. Let the hands of your brother in the faith make your burdens light work.
