Practical help
We think we can keep bad habits hidden. If we're trolling porn sites — or just playing games — at work, we think we can keep matters under wraps. We sweep our backlist of visited sites. Or we call up a spreadsheet if someone walks by. Generally, these strategies work.
Unfortunately, God is not "foolable." Jesus says one day our hidden behaviors — everything from our private thoughts to our favorite Web sites — will be broadcast. As one Christian band put it, "Recording Artist, God sees it all. Recording Artist, he has total recall. Your sneaky moves are right there in the groove." One day God will play that record, and all will be revealed.
That's all the more reason to align our actions with our deepest desires to honor God. When our heart and our acts line up, we have nothing to hide.
