Passage: Proverbs 31:10-12* 10. A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11. Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12. She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life. Questions 1. How valuable is a wife of noble character?   2. By extension, how valuable is any person of noble character?   3. According to verse 12, what is the effect of a wife of noble character on her husband?   Practical help I recently heard a leader of a women's movement lament society's view of women. Her voice laced with anger, she said they are valued "either as sex objects or mothers." I nearly burst into tears, realizing that though her anger was perhaps misdirected, the core issue was right on: Many in society have boiled down women to bodily functions. In a broader sense, the same has happened for both women and men. Just glance at what's on network TV these days to see the emphasis on sex in today's world. What can be done to reverse this trend? Start at home. Do you give your spouse the value due him/her? Or if not married, do you desire relationships with people to bring out their nobility or to satisfy your primal desires? What about porn? Do you think of the people in those photos as created in God's image, or as flesh for consumption? Make some positive changes: Cancel your cable subscription, pull the plug on the TV, and hide it in the closet. Take a close look at your magazine subscriptions and ask yourself which of them bring you closer to God and which you should cancel.
