Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
The
current studies explore the following premise: "If we
want to behave Christianly, we've got to
believe Christianly." Will the premise help us
stand strong in the face of sexual temptation?
Passages*
John 10:30
[Jesus speaking]
"I and the Father are
one."
1 John 4:1-3 [The
Apostle John speaking]
1. Beloved, do not
believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see
whether they are from God; because many false
prophets have gone out into the world.
2. By this you know the
Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that
Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from
God;
3. and every spirit that does
not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the
spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard
that it is coming, and now it is already in the
world.
Questions
1. What does John 10:30
teach about the nature of Jesus?
2. What does 1 John 4:1-3 teach
about the nature of Jesus?
Practical
help
Ever since the founding of
Christianity, believers have wrestled with who this
Person, Jesus, is. He walked the earth for 33 years
and did things that no one else has ever done (healed
the sick, cast out demons, healed those born blind,
cleansed lepers, walked on water, arose from the
dead!). What are we to think of Him?
Theologians concluded that we
are to think of Jesus as fully God and fully man. He
is not a 50-50 mix. In every sense of the word, the
Jesus who walked the roads of Palestine was man
and God.
A trivial, minor point, not
worth paying much attention to? A concept that only
ivory tower theologues and abstract-thinking eggheads
think about? Wrong!
The identify and nature of Jesus
is something that all people who call
themselves Christians are to be vitally concerned
with!
How could a Person any less than
God offer eternal salvation to people like you and me
who need forgiveness from sin? In order for His offer
to be valid, it is critical that He be fully God. (And
the New Testament bears out that He was truly
God!)
And how could a Person who is
anything other than fully human offer genuine help to
people who are struggling with sin? It is Jesus'
humanity that enables Him to sympathize with those who
are tempted in any way (Hebrews 4:15).
If we want to behave
Christianly, we've got to believe Christianly.
If you wrestle with an addiction to porn, you need to
know that the God/Man will come to your aid, bringing
forgiveness, sympathy, and help to overcome your porn
habit.
