Title: Christ’s Second Coming — and Porn
Keyword: "Lordship of Christ" ”Second Coming"
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

The current studies explore the following premise: "If we want to behave Christianly, we've got to believe Christianly." Will the premise help us stand strong in the face of sexual temptation?

Passages: Revelation 19:11-16*

11. And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war.

12. And His eyes are a flame of fire, and upon His head are many diadems; and He has a name written upon Him which no one knows except Himself.

13. And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and His name is called The Word of God.

14. And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.

15. And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may smite the nations; and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty.

16. And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, "KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS."

Questions

The passage of Scripture above (Revelation 19:11-16) describes the return of Jesus Christ to set up a 1,000 year reign on earth.

1. What names are given to Jesus in this passage (verses 11, 13, 16)?

2. Especially given a first-century original audience, what is the significance of Jesus returning to earth on a white horse?

3. What do you note about His physical appearance? What might the symbolism behind His appearance imply about who He is?

4. What will be the characteristics of Jesus' reign on earth? (vv. 11, 15)

Practical help

While it is perfectly appropriate to think of Jesus as "gentle" (Matthew 11:29), His gentleness should never be mistaken for weakness!

When He cleaned out the Temple in Jerusalem, driving out the money-changers with whips and overturning the tables of those who were selling animals (John 2; Matthew 21), He gave a glimpse into His capacity for righteous indignation and His ability to correct a situation that had gotten way out of hand.

The world we live in has gotten way out of hand. From terror's threat on the international scene, to poverty and mass starvation in certain third world countries, to ethnic cleansing in some areas, to racism and violence and abortion, to the increase of degrading pornography, our world is coming unglued. Who will put it back together again?

The Bible teaches that Jesus is coming again to put it back together again. When He returns, He will make all things new and will set the world on its God-ordained course of righteousness. There will be no long, drawn out "fight" over this takeover. He will simply take over.

The message of the Bible is that, in the end, God wins. Jesus reigns. Righteousness triumphs over evil.

Very practical implications arise from the fact of Jesus' eventual reign as King of kings and Lord of lords. Basically, since Jesus will eventually prove Himself Lord over all, to delay submitting to His Lordship is to delay the inevitable.

To submit to Him, to pursue righteousness, to embrace purity, to stand strong in the face of sexual temptation and avoid even limited exposure to porn is to align yourself with the reign of the coming King.
