Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

The story of Samson (Judges 13-16) depicts the tragedy that can result from giving in to lust. Let us see what we can learn from his experience.

Passage: Judges 16:4-5 *

4 After this it came about that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

5 The lords of the Philistines came up to her and said to her, "Entice him, and see where his great strength lies and how we may overpower him that we may bind him to afflict him. Then we will each give you eleven hundred pieces of silver."

Questions

1. Were Samson's actions or intentions toward Delilah good or honorable?

2. Did Samson see the danger he was putting himself into?

3. When you have seen all you want to see of one Internet pornography web site, how long does it take for you to click onto the next one?

4. When you view Internet pornography, is your body physically reacting to your lust (heart rate, breathing rate, skin, genitals, etc.)?

5. When you view Internet pornography, are you fully aware of other things going on around you?

Practical help

The Bible does not state how much time elapsed between Samson's visit to the harlot in Gaza (yesterday's lesson) and his visit to Delilah in the valley of Sorek. However, the Bible reports them immediately adjacent to each other, as if the one led to the other. Also, this passage makes no mention of any plan for Samson to marry Delilah. What the passage does mention is how close Samson's adversaries are getting to him.

We must flee from Internet pornography. It draws us in and tricks us so that we do not see or take action against the adversaries that surround us. (If you do well, will not your countenance be lifted up? And if you do not do well, sin is crouching at the door; and its desire is for you, but you must master it. - Genesis 4:7)

For Tomorrow

Consider some of the unwise choices you have made when you were under the charming spell of Internet pornography. Write some of them down.
