Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Romans 12:9*

Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil; cling to what is good.

Questions

1. What's the difference between loving something and lusting for it?

2. Do emotions often cloud your judgment? Why?

Practical help

There's an implication in today's passage that we have a tendency to confuse genuine love with less noble feelings — like lust. Duh!

Putting the 'Duhs' aside, this is not a simple problem for us porn strugglers. When emotions are bridled, the thinking person can often sort out (and then avoid) the evil "quenchings" of a less than noble feeling. But when it comes to sexuality, how often are the emotions bridled?

News flash — feelings can blur judgment!

Now a three-minute Bible study is not the forum for a treatise on genuine love, but it can point you to the most exhaustive exposition ever written — the Bible. Take this much from today's passage: A relationship with the Lord Jesus based on insight gained from His word, the Bible, will shape how you love. It will enable you to see lust for what it is — a feeling devoid of love that springs from sin and seeks an evil quenching. Another great side effect of a relationship with the Lord Jesus is that more and more you'll find yourself clinging to what is good. Maybe a more specific side effect is you'll find yourself "clicking" to what is good.
