Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
Mark 2:22-28*
22. No on e puts new
wine into old wineskins; otherwise the wine will burst
the skins, and the wine is lost and the skins as well;
but one puts new wine into fresh
wineskins.
23. And it happened that He was
passing through the grainfields on the Sabbath, and
His disciples began to make their way along while
picking the heads of grain.
24. The Pharisees were saying to
Him, Look, why are they doing what is not lawful
on the Sabbath?
25. And He said to them,
Have you never read what David did when he was
in need and he and his companions became
hungry;
26. how he entered the house of
God in the time of Abiathar the high priest, and ate
the consecrated bread, which is not lawful for anyone
to eat except the priests, and he also gave it to
those who were with him?
27. Jesus said to them,
The Sabbath was made for man, and not man for
the Sabbath.
28. So the Son of Man is
Lord even of the Sabbath.
Questions
1. What is
legalism?
2. Jesus wants a change of heart
more than a change of behavior. Does this make sense
to you? Why or why not?
3. How does this passage relate
to a persons struggle with
pornography?
Practical
help
Old Wine: "God created man
to obey rules."
New Wine: God created rules to
bless man.
Old Wine: "Gods rules
about your sexuality were created to torment you and
keep you from having a good time."
New Wine: God created your
sexuality and wants it to bless you. Rules are in
place to protect you and others.
When Jesus was confronted by
legalists he turned to the Bible of his time, the Old
Testament. As long as we see the Bible as a rule book
instead of the Book of Life, we will miss using it in
the way God intended. If you read the Bible with an
open heart, God will open your ability to understand.
Try it and see.
