Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Romans 12:2 *

2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.

Questions

1. This verse tells us that God wants to do a transforming work in the life of the Christian. What are some other words that you can think of which communicate much the same thought as "transformation"? What areas of your life might God be interested in transforming? (Notice, Paul didn't say God wanted to "tweak" or to "fine tune.")

2. When God wants to perform a transforming work in a man's life, what organ does He target?

3. What does the apostle Paul say will happen when our minds are transformed and renewed?

4. Paul describes the will of God at the end of the verse.

In what way is the will of God "good" - and for whom is it good?

How is it "acceptable" - and to whom is it acceptable?

In what sense is it "perfect"?

Practical help

The Greek word for "transform" is the word from which we derive our English word metamorphosis." God is in the process of changing caterpillars into butterflies, worldlings into saints, immature into mature men. The inside-out, core-to-the-crust transforming work occurs when we cooperate with the Spirit and allow our minds to be renewed. Clicking on to a sexually explicit Internet porn site or saying "Yes" to any sexual temptation, simply continues the pattern of the un-transformed life. If you seek the transformed life and a renewed mind, you must do an "about face." Stop digging the hole that says, "I am compelled to click to those images." The Law of Holes says, "When you find yourself in one, stop digging!" The first step toward the transformed life and the renewed mind comes when we put down our shovel (or the mouse, as the case may be), stop digging, look up, and turn around.
