Ignoring the evidence of their eyes, they sense an itch or pain in the removed arms or legs. An addiction to pornography works the same way for a Christian. As Samuel told Saul, God has changed you "into a different person." You have different desires, even a different spirit — one geared toward God, not toward yourself. So when you watch pornography, you're pretending that the dead, phantom spirit of self remains. Trust your eyes — and Scripture. God replaced your old person with a new one, and pornography no longer suits your makeup.
