Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: John 13:34-35*

34. "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another."

35. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

Questions

1. What standard of love is the Christ-follower called to? Who are we supposed to imitate?

2. According to Jesus, what will happen if we love in this way?

Practical help

Love is the call of the Christian. Christ-like, self-sacrificing love. When we love like He did, the world will know that we are His followers, because we will be living the way He did. Jesus’ love was powerful and beautiful because it was focused on others.

By contrast, a man consumed with pornography is a man wrapped up in himself. Involvement with pornography is a dead end street because it is an attempt to find life through self-gratification. Jesus’ way -- others-centered love -- is better.

There are many components to learning how to stop a compulsive behavior -- and a habit of clicking on to pornographic web sites is certainly a compulsive behavior. You may WANT to quit but find yourself frustrated by failure. Next time you are tempted, channel the energy you would be directing toward the computer screen toward a PERSON. Determine to love that person. Prove to yourself that love is the antidote to compulsive behavior.
