How could they apply to our struggle against Web pornography?   Practical help Our legal system aims to address fairly the competing claims brought before it. (Whether it succeeds or fails is another matter.) Prosecution vs. defense. Legal representation. A jury of our peers. A judge that understands the law. These parts of the system try to ensure a fair hearing for our cases. But a fair hearing is the last thing porn viewers want. Like the Israelites in the passage above, we know we're guilty — no ifs, ands or points of order about it. Still, God does not always give us the justice we deserve. When we ask for forgiveness, he forgives and brings us "back to the land [he] gave [us]" — a free, expansive, faithful life. So the next time you stumble into Web pornography, don't ask for justice. Plead for mercy.
