Passage: 1 Corinthians 2:9*

But just as it is written,
"Things which eye has not seen and ear has not heard,
And which have not entered the heart of man,
All that God has prepared for those who love Him."

Questions

1. What can you imagine about the things God is preparing for you?

2. What does this verse tell us about the future that awaits those who love God?

Practical help

Human imagination can’t even grasp the things that God has in store for those who know and love Him. Jesus said that he was going to heaven in order to prepare a place for His disciples (John 14:1-3). God told the nation of Israel that He had good plans for them, plans that included a future and hope. Even though we can’t begin to understand it all, we can be sure that God has good things waiting for us.

The Bible further tells us the He will create a new heaven and a new earth (Isaiah 65:17, Revelation 21:1) and that we will live with Him forever. In the mean time, His Spirit comforts and guides and empowers us.

Knowing the truth about the future and having at least a sense of the good things He is preparing for us gives us hope and courage to press on in this life. It becomes a real help for us also in dealing with the struggles and temptations of this world — things like Web porn and its attraction. Knowing the truth about our future and God’s gift to us of eternity can be big help in resisting temptation. This world is not all there is. The best is yet to come.
