strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
Ephesians 6:18*
With all prayer and
petition pray at all times in the Spirit, and with
this in view, be on the alert with all perseverance
and petition for all the saints.
Questions
1. What does prayer have
to do with doing battle?
2. In the context of spiritual
warfare, why should we pray for others?
3. What should characterize our
concern for our fellow believers in the heat of the
battle?
Practical
help
Prayer is what serves to
fasten all the other pieces of our armor together. It
is prayer by the grace of God the Holy Spirit and
according to His teaching that makes us effective in
spiritual battle. The enemy is mighty and we are
really without strength in ourselves. But Christ in us
is almighty and in the power of His might we become
victorious. Prayer is the proof of our faith and
dependence on Him. We know that He answers when we
pray according to His will (1 John 5:13). Prayer
brings results as God acts, and prayer brings peace to
our hearts as we learn to trust Him more.
This battle includes others
our brothers and sisters in Christ. They
experience many of the same struggles and temptations
that we do. So lets remember to pray, not only
for ourselves, but for others also. Lets keep an
eye out for signs of trouble in their lives, and
continue on in prayer for them.
Satan hates it when Christians
pray. When you are tempted today to lust or to log on
to those porn sites, stop and pray for strength from
Jesus. Then pray for someone else you know that shares
the same battle.
