Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
Hebrews 12:1-2*
Therefore, since we have
so great a cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us
also lay aside every encumbrance, and the sin which so
easily entangles us, and let us run with endurance the
race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus,
the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set
before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and
has sat down at the right hand of the throne of
God.
Question
What is the key to
long-term personal victory in our struggle against Web
porn?
Practical
help
In a marathon its
the lead runner that sets the pace for all the rest.
Those runners who hope to win or place well at the
finish know that they must keep their eyes on the lead
runner and maintain his pace.
Todays passage compares
the Christian life to a marathon. As runners we focus
our full attention on Jesus, the lead runner and model
finisher of our faith. Being careful to not take the
analogy too far, we know that we are not competing
against each other or against Jesus. In fact, as our
model finisher, Jesus having already run His race, He
now comes along side to help us run. His interest is
in seeing us persevere and finish well by His
grace.
Now to Him who is able to
keep you from stumbling, and to make you stand in the
presence of His glory blameless with great joy, to the
only God our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be
glory, majesty, dominion and authority, before all
time and now and forever. Amen (Jude 1:24-25
3:20).
So, run well today, and take
action by doing three things:
1. Rejoice in the
perseverance that Jesus gives you!
2. Turn your attention upon
Jesus and thank Him.
3. Resist the pull of porn by
standing strong in Christ.
He is what you need most of
all.
