Therefore, prepare your minds for action; be self-controlled; set
your hope fully on the grace to be given you when Jesus Christ is revealed.
In the context of this passage the revealing of Jesus Christ
refers to his promise to return and bring believers home to heaven.
Jesus Christ is going to return someday to take you home to heaven!

Wow!
Let's say you were permitted a glimpse into the future and saw that
next year you'd get an award for being 'Safe Driver of the Year' and along with it you'd
receive a fifty percent discount on your insurance premiums. How would that foreknowledge
affect the way you approach driving? Do you think you'd be a little more self-controlled?
Well, Peter's letting you in on a little foreknowledge about your
life -- because of Jesus, you'll spend eternity in heaven! Therefore, be self-controlled.
Can God's love for you and his promised 'award' of eternity in
heaven help change the way you react to temptations? You bet it can!
