No temptation has seized you except what is common
to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond
what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a
way out so that you can stand up under it.
Question
What would you call a credible "way out" of porn
temptation?
Practical help
This verse promises a way out of every temptation
— and that God himself will provide it.
The verse doesn't say that, because God provides
the escape route, the "way out" is necessarily complex or clever. It
may be simple, straightforward — and obvious. The exit means may also
be available already, versus delivered with fanfare by angels after
the temptation has seized you.
If you're struggling with porn and are looking for
a "way out," consider making a list of, say, five obvious things that
could help you give the slip to smut. Like keeping your office or den
door open while on line (making it harder to conceal porn). Or turning
on your computer's porn filters.
Such a list might be a "way out" in and of
itself.
