Passage: Mark 3:22-30*
22. The scribes who came down from Jerusalem were saying, "He is possessed by Beelzebul," and "He casts out the demons by the ruler of the demons."
23. And He called them to Himself and began speaking to them in parables, "How can Satan cast out Satan?
24. "If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
25. If a house is divided against itself, that house will not be able to stand.
26. If Satan has risen up against himself and is divided, he cannot stand, but he is finished!
27. But no one can enter the strong man’s house and plunder his property unless he first binds the strong man, and then he will plunder his house.
28. Truly I say to you, all sins shall be forgiven the sons of men, and whatever blasphemies they utter;
29. but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin" —
30. because they were saying, "He has an unclean spirit."

Practical help
When I think about what a scribe was in Bible times, the picture of a bookish nitpicker comes to mind. This is someone who is more interested in "accuracy" than "rightness." He doesn’t care if the law is just, just that it’s kept. Why? Because it’s the law.
Jesus continually disrupted the ordered sterile world of the scribes. No wonder they had to look for extraordinary reasons to justify their cold hearts. So they accused Jesus of being in league with the devil. Be real careful when you are trying to justify a position (like pornography is a good thing) that you don’t distort reality the way these scribes did. Especially when it comes to assigning evil motives to God. Not only will it get you in hot water, it has the potential of harming innocent people around you. If they loose faith in God, where then will they turn in times of trouble?
One final thought. If you have given your life to Jesus Christ, he is your strong man. You can rest secure that his house will never be plundered. You have to decide if you will come in or stay outside and take the hits.
