Passage: Psalm 7:1-7*

1. O LORD my God, in You I have taken refuge; save me from all those who pursue me, and deliver me,

2. Or he will tear my soul like a lion, dragging me away, while there is none to deliver. 3. O LORD my God, if I have done this, if there is injustice in my hands,

4. If I have rewarded evil to my friend, or have plundered him who without cause was my adversary,

5. Let the enemy pursue my soul and overtake it; and let him trample my life down to the ground and lay my glory in the dust. Selah.

6. Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; lift up Yourself against the rage of my adversaries, and arouse Yourself for me; You have appointed judgment.

7. Let the assembly of the peoples encompass You, and over them return on high.

Questions

1. Are you angry a lot?

2. In your anger, do you do things you regret, like look at pornography?

3. Have you ever turned your anger over to God? Do you know how?

Practical help

This is the third in a series of studies in Psalm 7. Today we are looking at verses 6 and 7. Have you ever asked God to be angry for you? Whenever we call out for justice to be done, this is in fact what we are requesting. Turning our problems and our hurts over to God rather than trying to right wrongs ourselves means that the One who knows all and sees all can act on our behalf. In addition, by withholding actions that in themselves are not completely good and fair we keep God from having to deal with us as well as those who have harmed us.

In verse 7 the psalmist talks about an assembly of people. When you accept Christ as your Savior, you join a family of people who love God and seek His righteousness and justice. If this is a strange thought to you, click here.

Generations have lived and died without ultimate justice occurring. Imagine this throng in heaven standing around God’s throne waiting for that time when He will act and deliver justice once and for all. One day, pornography will be a thing of the past and those who have lived to endorse it and spread it will have to answer for their actions. As for you, turn your temptations and frustrations over to God today. He can handle it.

1 Peter 5:6-7*: "Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you at the proper time, casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you."
