Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
1 John
1:5-7*
5. And this is the message
we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God
is light, and in Him there is no darkness at
all.
6. If we say that we have
fellowship with Him and yet walk in the darkness, we
lie and do not practice the truth;
7. but if we walk in the light
as He Himself is in the light, we have fellowship with
one another, and the blood of Jesus His Son cleanses
us from all sin.
Questions
1. In these verses, the
apostle John (the author) draws a distinction between
"light" and "darkness." "Light" and "darkness" are
very common images for "good" and "evil." What
characteristics of each come to your mind when
thinking of them in those terms?
Light:
Darkness:
2. What is John emphasizing when
he tells us that there is no darkness in
God?
3. Do you see elements of
"darkness" in the pornography industry? If so, can you
state what some of the darknesses of pornography might
be?
Practical
Help
Perhaps you have visited
the eXXit web site because you want to break the
stranglehold of Internet porn. Maybe you have admitted
to yourself that viewing pornography (on the Internet
or elsewhere) is "darkness."
If so, you are walking toward
the light and allowing God's light to shine on your
life. The fullness of fellowship with God is
experienced when we not only walk toward the
light, but also walk in the light and do away
with the darkness.
Away with Internet porn! It
compromises the rich fellowship you could be enjoying
with the God of light!
