Slippery Slope---------------------------------------- Date: 11/19/1999
Keywords: "money" "pornography"
Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage: Ecclesiastes 5:10*
Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is
never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.
Questions
1. How do Solomon's words about money apply to pornography?
2. How should we respond?
Practical help
In the family tree of trouble, money and pornography must inhabit
the same branch. They both look good. They both end in Y. And pursuing either one of them
gives no satisfaction.
Coincidence? I don't think so.
Consider pornography. When you see it, don't you want more? And when you see more, doesn't
it leave you frustrated? Is it any surprise that the racy R-rated movie often leads to
soft porn, which often leads to the hard stuff?
It appears Solomon would not be surprised. Pornography -- even in ever-increasing doses --
brings no satisfaction. That's all the more reason to get off the slippery slope before it
carries you away.
