Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Jeremiah 13:23*

Can the Ethiopian change his skin or the leopard its spots?

Question

How could this verse help you resist temptation?

Practical help

First-century gnostics believed that matter was bad and the spirit was good. Ergo, it didn't matter what you did with your body so long as your soul remained pure.

Sound familiar?

Some pro-porn advocates would have us believe that we can watch all the smut we want yet somehow remain above it all ... spiritually. Some Christians even fall into this mode of thinking; after all, Christ has purified us.

Jeremiah wouldn't put up with such double-minded nonsense. He would ask porn viewing Christians a couple of snappish rhetorical questions: "Can spiritual purity coexist with bodily depravity? Can a believer fill his mind with the themes of pornography — fornication, adultery, deviant sexual acts — and remain untainted?"

Obviously, no. Like leopards can't change their spots, Christians can't sequester their souls from the ravages of pornography. Disagree? Then you might find the First Church of Gnosticism more to your liking than your present house of worship.
