Practical help
This is the Apostle Paul’s answer to life’s greatest
question, "What is the meaning of life?" As I look at it I know two things.
First, I know, as a Christian, I should be able to say the very same thing. Secondly, I
know that I often miss the mark. At times, for me to live is a good meal. At other times,
for me to live, is an encouraging word from a friend. In the past, life seemed to be
seeking sexual gratification in inappropriate and self-centered ways.
How about you? Is your life centered on survival and self-gratification? Do you justify
your pornography by declaring that it is necessary for your life? In the end, when the
pleasure has disappeared what replaces it is emptiness and shame. Am I right? But if you
seek Christ and His Kingdom first, you will not be disappointed. You will find rest for
your soul now and the emptiness will be replaced with a deeper joy and a deeper lasting
pleasure.
Many people try to overcome their addictions by will-power. Don’t get me wrong, I
agree you have to exercise the will. But for the Christian, the power is not our own. As
you center you life in Christ, ask Him to make you clean and He will direct your paths.
