Passage: John 6:9-14* 9. "There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what are these for so many people?" 10. Jesus said, "Have the people sit down." Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. 11. Jesus therefore took the loaves; and having given thanks, He distributed to those who were seated; likewise also of the fish as much as they wanted. 12. And when they were filled, He said to His disciples, "Gather up the leftover fragments that nothing may be lost." 13. And so they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves, which were left over by those who had eaten. 14. When therefore the people saw the sign which He had performed, they said, "This is of a truth the Prophet who is to come into the world." Questions 1. The disciples faced a lack of resources. What did they lack and what did Jesus do about it?   2. How did Jesus’ actions demonstrate who He was?   Practical help Can you imagine the amazement of the disciples when they gathered up all the leftovers? Just moments before, they were faced with the reality of limited resources. They had a little food, but what good would that do for so many? We all face moments in life when our resources are not sufficient to meet the need. The same holds true in the case of sexual temptation. You will never have enough personal resources to deal with it on your own. You need to look to Jesus. He has the resources that you lack. Who else but Jesus could? Even the people realized that Jesus had done the impossible. He met their need. In a similar way, when you experience His grace and strength, you will begin to know the joy of depending on Him instead of your own resources. If you are struggling with porn, recognize that you have a great need. You can never fight the temptations to log on to those porn sites on your own. You need Jesus. Seek after Him with all your heart today, and if the sexual temptations assault you then you will be able to stand in His power.
