Passage:
Song of Songs
4:5-7*
5. Your two breasts are
like two fawns, like twin fawns of a gazelle that
browse among the lilies.
6. Until the day breaks and the
shadows flee, I will go to the mountain of myrrh and
to the hill of incense.
7. All beautiful you are, my
darling; there is no flaw in you.
Questions
1. How does the author
view the nakedness of his spouse?
2. How does Web pornography
depict nakedness?
Practical
Help
If there were any doubt,
this passage makes clear that nakedness is not the
problem with pornography. It's the context.
But what should we do if we've
already engaged in the wrong context, such as
pornography? It's difficult, after all, simply to turn
off our memories (and arousal).
Perhaps Solomon's poem of
marital love can help even here. Follow its cue: Don't
denigrate beauty; praise God for it. Even the raciest
porn memories lose their power in the presence of
praise.
