Passage: Psalm 43:1*

Vindicate me, O God, and plead my cause against an ungodly nation; rescue me from deceitful and wicked men.

Questions

1. How often do you pray like David?

2. If not much, why not?

Practical help

While Christians often rail against cultural depravity in public, how often do we do the same in private? Quick quiz: When was the last time words like "ungodly," "deceitful" and "wicked" popped up in your prayers?

If, like me, you can't remember, perhaps the reason is we identify ourselves too much with the world. As full participants in cultural depravity (read: Web porn), we're not sure if we want our smut supply to run out. Another question: When was the last time a nonChristian told you, "You seem so different from everyone else"? If it's been a while, maybe you're not that different.

Change begins on the inside and moves outward, especially in your prayers. So let's put our laundry lists of requests on hold for a time and start praying with David's anti-worldly zeal. Maybe the change will reinvigorate our hearts — and our online viewing habits.
