How has God demonstrated His goodness and mercy to you?   2. How can these two attributes of God help you in your struggles with pornography?   Practical help David discovered through times of hardship and times of happiness that God’s goodness and mercy were not just sporadic occurrences. He learned to count on the fact that God was good and merciful, and that the personal benefit of those two attributes would be upon him as long as he lived. Of course, David also knew that because he trusted in such a good and merciful God, that God would take him to His home in heaven when he died. David trusted in his Savior. You and I must make the same discovery. We need to learn first hand that God is good and merciful. We need to come to the point where we count on it like David did. Failure and struggles with sin — Web porn use for instance — are part of that discovery process. Our love for God and trust in Him grow as we see His mercy exercised in our lives. God in His power is able to use even our failures. Through them we discover the depths of His goodness and mercy. Take a break from porn. You have a Savior, the Lord Jesus, who loves you. His mercy abounds to lead you into fellowship with Himself, and away from sexual sin and it’s devastating consequences. If and when you fail, know that God will use even the bitter aftermath to show you more of His goodness and mercy. Don’t stay in a mire of guilt and condemnation.
