Passage: Ecclesiastes 3:12-15* 12. I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. 13. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil — this is the gift of God. 14. I know that everything God does will endure forever; nothing can be added to it and nothing taken from it. God does it so that men will revere him. 15. Whatever is has already been, and what will be has been before; and God will call the past to account. Question How complicated are the pleasures described in verses 12-13 above?   Practical help It is axiomatic — and biblical — that the best pleasures in life are simple and free. They provide a powerful alternative to complicated, high-tech diversions and any wild fantasies such pastimes might invite. According to verse 13 above, such simple pleasures include food, drink, and fulfillment in one's work. By extension, rest, relaxation, hiking, bike riding, table games and the like can be included on such a list as well. All are relatively cheap. If you're tired of the moral, spiritual and physical drain of porn surfing, consider taking a long break from the smut rut. Swear off the Web for a while. Eat a cookie, drink some lemonade, and go for a walk. Read some passages from the Book of Ecclesiastes. Who knows?
