…excluded from the life of God…

Questions

1. Think back to a time when you suffered rejection from a friend or loved one. What emotions did you experience at that time?

2. What comes to mind as you consider the plight of those who are "excluded from the life of God"?

Practical help

Most of us have experienced alienation in some relationship or other. We don’t have to live very long to know rejection, loss of intimacy, the cold shoulder.

Whether through a divorce, a fractured relationship with a friend, or a dysfunctional family, relationships here on planet earth often don’t work quite the way we wish they would.

What Paul points out in the verse above highlights a problem far worse, though, than any human alienation. People who have yet to trust Jesus for their eternal salvation are alienated from God! They face a Grand Canyon chasm between themselves and the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. Now THAT’s alienation!

No wonder they’re "looking for love in all the wrong places." They hunger for connection with God, and, not finding that, seek fulfillment in all sorts of places, people, and things — including pornography.

We who have come to know Christ by faith, though, are not in that boat. (If you want to find out how to leave that boat and become a Christian, click here.)

Whenever anyone places his or her trust for their salvation in Jesus’ finished work on the cross, they experience reconciliation. The alienation of the past is forever a thing of the past.

Because we are now in relationship with the God who made us, we can find the fulfillment and satisfaction we hunger for in Him. We CAN put aside porn because God is our Father.
