But many people lose hope when battling a strong temptation over a period of years. Hope can fade when we lose perspective on what is truly valuable and long-lasting. In the heat of a tempting moment, we can believe the enemy's lie that sex is forever, that life is sex — and the rest is just details. We may become willing to give up anything — even our integrity or the vitality of a close walk with the Lord — to achieve sexual gratification. When the sexual urges are strongest, we need most desperately to remember that heaven with the Lord is our eternal future — and that this is what is truly important.
