Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: 2 Timothy 1:7*

For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline.

Questions

1. In your struggle with porn, how are you doing with self-discipline?

2. Who would you consider the greatest teacher?

Practical help

Discipline aims at the removal of bad habits and the substitution of good ones, especially those of order, regularity, and obedience.

— C. J. Smith.1

Sometimes a struggle with porn leaves us feeling like an old dog — never able to learn new tricks to beat the bad habit. "Why can't I muster enough self-discipline to give porn the heave-ho?," you may wonder.

The only problem with self-discipline is the source. Often we're either too proud or too ashamed to admit we need a new teacher.

Well, if you've trusted Jesus Christ as savior (click here, if you're not sure you have) then you've already got a new teacher — the Holy Spirit.

One of the many things the Holy Spirit does for us is to become a ready replacement for self-discipline. Where our self-discipline falters the Holy Spirit's teaching and leading can succeed. But we must be willing to listen, and be taught. Are you?
