Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Luke 22:40*

When He arrived at the place, He said to them, "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."

Questions

1. In your struggle with porn, do you anticipate possible temptations?

2. Is there any connection between your prayer life and your susceptibility to temptation?

Practical help

Today's passage is a statement (more likely a command) that Jesus made to Peter, James and John as He was about to go and pray in the Garden of Gethsemane. He was about to pray in anticipation of unimaginable pain, agony and abandonment. He was preparing himself for what He knew He had to face AND endure.

Jesus was also giving us a clear example of the connection between God's desire for us and our own desires. Jesus, in the depth of his humanity, was asking the Father if there might be another way to do what had to be done. And then He followed His question with yielded ascent to the Father's will.

The thing for us porn struggler's to notice is that it is wise to talk the upcoming day over with the Lord BEFORE we get into it.

There are significant benefits in taking a precautionary approach to your battle with porn: 1) Your morning chat with God helps you acknowledge to yourself that to honor Him in the day ahead you have to partner with Him — you can't go it alone! 2) Asking God to change your impulses will often do just that.

Take Jesus' command as yours today, and everyday. "Pray that you may not enter into temptation."
