Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Psalm 1:1a*

Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.

Questions

1. How may the message of this verse be true?

2. How could it apply to pornography?

Practical help

We've heard it all before. "Don't worry about sex and violence in the movies," say the Hollywood types. "That stuff doesn't affect people. It's just entertainment."

The statement contains a grain of truth. Many off us have seen untold rapes and murders on screen, yet have remained free of felonies. Still, more and more media observers acknowledge that what we see guides what we do. Otherwise, why would advertisers spend millions on Super Bowl spots?

This fact should give porn viewers pause. The images we see will take their toll, maybe not in felonies, but in the misdemeanors of wandering eyes and depraved fantasies.

Don't believe it? Then you may as well throw in your lot with the "movies-don't-affect-anyone" crowd. Your counsel matches theirs.
