Passage: Psalm 3:5*
I lie down and sleep; I wake again, because the Lord sustains me.
Questions
1. Why does David feel confident in his relationship with God?
2. Can we apply this confidence to our struggle with Web porn?
Practical help
The hit Steven Curtis Chapman song "Waiting for Lightning"
chastised listeners for wanting lightning bolts from God, while he "quietly whispers
your name."
Likewise, believers struggling with Web pornography don't need
aerial pyrotechnics to confidently face the problem. Psalm 2 proves it.
David says there that the simple fact that God sustains him through
sleeping and waking gives him confidence against his enemies -- a much more tangible group
of foes than we're likely to encounter.
Borrow a little of the king's confidence. In the same way that God
sustains you with every breath, He will help you overcome your addictions.
