Passage: Psalm 1:1*

How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, Nor stand in the path of sinners, Nor sit in the seat of scoffers!

Question

1. Three bad influences are listed in this verse. Can you describe the characteristics of each of them?

2. Who do you influence in your life? Is your influence on them good or bad?

Practical help

To be blessed by God is to know that He is pleased with you. It is difficult to feel this way about your relationship with your Heavenly Father and actively pursue Internet pornography, isn’t it?

This verse advises us to avoid the influences of three types of people.

1. Wicked people. They pursue evil, getting a thrill from violence and destruction.

2. Sinners. In the context of this verse, they're the people who break or ignore religious or moral laws. These aren't people who just feel sinful; they thumb their noses at God’s instruction and God’s people.

3. Scoffers. They laugh at people trying to do the right thing.

Don’t ask wicked people for advice. Don’t permit the atheist to influence your walk. And don’t sit and laugh with those who make fun of God and His plan for you.
