Welcome
to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
Psalm 1:1-2*
1. How blessed is the man
who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor
stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of
scoffers!
2. But his delight is in the law
of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and
night.
Question
1. Are you drawn to
studying the Bible, or does the thought of it
overwhelm you?
2. Is pornography distracting
you from Bible study and prayer? If this is the case,
why do you think it is so?
Practical
help
Although we are looking at
verse 2 today, it is important to do it in the context
of verse 1. Yesterday we considered the negative
influence of three types of people (click
here to review yesterdays
study). Your
"delight" in studying Gods word is stifled by
negative influence probably more than you think. Most
of us believe we are "mature" enough to avoid tempters
and temptations, but are we correct?
The evidence that you are
"delighting" in Gods law (which to the writer of
this psalm was at least the first five books of the
Bible, but to Christians should include every book
from Genesis to Revelation) is not the presence of a
warm feeling but the fact that you continue to think
about it day and night. Remove distractions like
pornography, begin reading the Bible and praying for
understanding, spend time with Christian brothers and
sisters, and you will soon discover your appetite
changing. You will be drawn to loving people as God
loves them and away from using erotic images of people
to stimulate your sex drive.
