Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand
strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage: Psalm 5:8*
Lead me, O Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies -- make
straight your way before me.
Question
If you consider Web porn your "enemy," how can you emulate
David's prayer?
Practical help
We often want God to give a divine stamp of approval to our ordinary
decisions. Some believers even ask for guidance on what clothes to wear for the day.
While the leading of the Lord is encouraged -- even in this passage
-- note that David also asks God to "make straight your way before me." Once the
direction is godly, David seems to say, then help me travel smoothly.
In regard to Web porn, the direction is clear: avoid it. But don't
expect God to write flaming ideas on the walls about how to pull that off. Ask him instead
to "make straight your way before me" -- and use your best judgment to implement
a smart anti-porn strategy.
God won't call you impertinent. He'll call you obedient.
