It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the soil, though it is smaller than all the seeds that are upon the soil, 32. yet when it is sown, it grows up and becomes larger than all the garden plants and forms large branches; so that the birds of the air can nest under its shade. Questions 1. What is a parable?   2. What do you think Jesus’ point was in telling this parable?   Practical help Within the opening pages of the Bible, we are told the story of Adam and Eve. It is considered mythology to many, but there are no better explanations for the conditions of this world than what we learn in this account of our original parents. (When I call it a story, I am not saying it is fiction, simply that it has elements of a good story, like the plot, characters and themes.) We learn they disobeyed God’s instructions which resulted in the loss of their ability to rule the earth under Him. In essence, they chose to live under a new ruler, Satan. Fortunately they lost the ability to live indefinitely which can be considered a merciful act as it would have been continual suffering under one who had no regard for who we are. In fact, the more Satan can harm us, the more he believes he can make God suffer. From that time to now, God has been in the process of rescuing us. He has broken through the darkness of this sinful world with the offer of a “new” kingdom, the kingdom of God. What do we know about this kingdom? Well, according to today’s passage, it is like a little seed, almost invisible to the eye, that after it has planted, grows into the huge plant. Here’s the point for you today. If you are suffering with a porn habit, or any other sexual addiction, there is hope for you. It may not seem like much at first, just asking Jesus to lead you and renouncing your allegiance to this world system under Satan, but the seed will grow. And not because you are a good person.
