Welcome to eXXit, the web site designed to help you stand strong in the face of sexual temptation.

Passage: Leviticus 18:3*

You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.

Questions

1. What does God instruct the Israelites not to do?

2. How can you apply this Old Testament command to your struggles against Web porn?

Practical help

The Internet democratizes everything it touches. Average Joe political commentators can bring down high-ranking politicians. Mom and Dad can order everything from books to submarines online. And pornography is available — and even celebrated. Welcome to the 21st century.

God remains unimpressed by the popularity of smut. Look at Leviticus 18:3. He instructed his people to shun the sins practiced by their former and new neighbors. Modern Christians can learn from this: Even though "everyone" enjoys Web porn, God desires a different quality of life for his people. Resolve to set yourself apart for him.

But note this: Though the neighbors were sinful, God did not ask the Israelites to live in total isolation. Their example of holiness stood in stark contrast with those around them to draw outsiders into a better life. Go and live likewise.
