strong in the face of sexual temptation.
Passage:
Proverbs 27:8*
Like a bird that strays
from its nest is a man who strays from his home.
Questions
1. What does this verse
mean?
2. How can it help you resist
pornography?
Practical
help
One good proverb deserves
another. Pair Proverbs 27:8 with its newer equivalent:
"The grass is always greener on the other side of the
fence." Both adages assume we know better.
Pornography, of course, hopes we
don't. It urges us to fixate on and drool over the
lawn next door or the best looking, most
well-tended lawns in all of creation. Surely, our
meager yards lack the excitement of those golf-course
vistas.
Well, no. Both Proverbs and its
newer incarnation imply different advice: Don't waste
your time pining after "the other side of the fence"
instead of enjoying what God has given you.
Or, as a horticultural sage
might put it, bloom where you're planted.
